| Target Site Survey Schools for India undertakes survey of each of the district to collect both primary and secondary data. A team of volunteers go around the villages collecting information pertaining to the number of children in each household, and the following questions are asked, Are they going to school? If so how far is the school? If not why and what is the reason? etc. A scientific questionnaire is filled in to assess the need for building a school in that area. The survey results in identification of the potential site at which we need to build the school. Schools for India as a policy will not build the schools near existing Government or Private schools. The focus is to provide the infrastructure where there is none today. |
| The pilot The need for the pilot was felt when we discussed about this project with our team and volunteers. The pilot will establish the accuracy of various assumptions with which we are working with. The Survey: The extensive survey of the Vandavasi Block in Thiruvannamalai district, reinforced our belief that there is a compelling reason for us to establish the high end schools in rural India. The survey concluded that the people in this area is willing to send their children to the school in spite of the need for them to work. We completed the survey of 212 villages in this block, which consisted of door to door survey and visit to all the schools in the villages to understand the current state of the infrastructure |
